I’m no shearer but have a set of the above for dagging and emergency use.

last week I dagged out a bunch of ram lambs ready to move into summer quarters and all fine.

this morning started on ewe lambs.

all of a sudden the handle is getting very hot, so hot I can’t hold it In Fact.

The cutter and comb are set correctly and only just warn to the touch.

motor sounds like it’s struggling fir some reason.

any ideas?

Check wiring / connections for possible cause of increased resistance.

Clean gauze / filter for air flow to motor.

Or a short somewhere , like the battery.

Trouble is these little motors especially when working hard have a tendency to overheat easily if used constantly, they dont have the power to cope as well .

had a-dig around and all looks fine. They are not even a year old.

Swapped to a new battery and still the same.
Frustrating!!

Mr Caunter tried it some years ago , got /saved quite number of 4 titted females i think to try that was mostly with the Lleyn, dont think they made anymore milk or some reason anyway it didn't gain an advantage . iirc.

Looks like yours is missing some air holes so the fan can keep the motor cool.
not just holes tho, remember to add a cleanable filter /mesh of some sort to keep fine hairs and wool out....

a little turbine or fan is on some 12v or electric motors but not enough space for this purpose i guess

I wouldn't worry. On the whole they are good. Parts are easy gotten, all major online shearer supplies companies (highway, top gun, Welsh, Horner etc) are selling their own name of the same machine. Or you can buy it off ebay, direct, for £100 less...
Can the batteries be purchased on eBay? Thanks

Don't think so, but this is the ebay listing for the machine all these companies brand as their own

£160 for everything, instead of £250**

**you do need an EU plug adaptor

There are also these clippers...

Know nothing about them... but that battery is almost identical to the Li-ion ones on my Makita drill:unsure:

I thought a while back when buying a Razor set that it would be great if Makita did a set of clippers. I have 4 5Ah batteries already so I’d be very interested to know if they are interchangeable!

I spent a while looking the pictures and the makita batteries I have. They are similar but, sadly, they are different.

Itd be great if these batteries were standardised across all tools...
