Rear window t7

Yes, had one go recently, not on a T7 though. As far as I know there was no stone involved at the time (there were however some minor stone chips from previous encounters). There was a flash and only what I can describe as a small explosion and then everything covered in fragments. Luckily I wasn't looking back at that moment.

I think they get weakened/stressed possibly by previous stone damage (or duck has a theory that it's latent stress induced via hinge points, gas lift arm points and it's triggered by temperature change or other stress on the glass). There's some trapped energy in those toughened glass screens and when they go it's pretty spectacular.

Lots of folks have them go when tractor parked up in the shed or the field, so there is some merit to the latent stress theory.

Had a back window go on a tm125. Got a replacement and fitted it. Sent driver out with a trailer and he shut the window on the drive and it smashed. The new window was in no more than 10 mins. One window - one of those things. Two windows - be more f#cking careful. Doesnt work here anymore

Heard of it happen on a brand new tractor, parked in a closed shed overnight after delivery. Nothing could get at it. Can only be put down to what Pheasant says, “latent stress”
