I guess some of it has been spent on infrastructure which hopefully will lead to other benefitsNo, see link below. Provides more detail. But would need an analysis of sponsorship etc to get to true cost. The government had to underwrite the show.

Absolutely, it will be interesting how history looks back on some of the ideas/things being done in the name of climate change at present.we patched up some gaps in hedges 2 years ago with trees paid for by a severn Trent grant to ‘offset’ the carbon from the Glasgow CW games.
I think in 100 years when the world has changed it won’t be cows that get the blame for what has happened but general f**king about like holidays, Olympics, F1 and all the needless shite we have been convinced we all need to buy daily.
