Hi I have just bought a 1989 Reco sulky dpx 1504 spreader and was wondering if anyone could help me with some settings for it as it didn't come with a book.

Google Sulky ferti test and it will give you most of the fertiliser settings or you can get a Sulky granulator and weigh litre of fert and put the results into the ferti test and it will give you the settings. I think you run the discs 70-80 cm from the ground.

Thanks for the information. Went onto the ferti test but it surely doesn't go as far back as a 1504 it only has a 1505.

What are you wanting to spread, have a later DPX here, may be able to give you some initial settings, but ideally you need to tray test. Kit is only 4 trays and a funnel and 4 small test tubes, does the job fine.

As mentioned . Use Fertitest. Settings for 1505 will be close enough. Remember these are guide and to be sure you must tray test is .

Thanks for the info but I am still not getting a setting that corresponds with my spreader because the setting numbers for the 1505 are not the same scale as the 1504 because it only has a scale of 1 to 5 for the width and flow settings. It is settings for 20-10-10 that I'm looking for.

Basic settings for height, level etc.

Calibration - carried out by removing one disc, and mounting a flow chute and a bucket, then driving x distance at spreading speed, 540 pto.

Spread pattern - carried out by doing a tray test, adjusted with a flow adjuster on the ends of the spreader, this adjusts the flow of the fert onto the disc, nearer the center for wider spread, towards the outside to reduce the width.

Headland spreading - there is a small flap somewhere to reduce spread width on one side.

Any advice on doing that when the disc in question had to be welded on and is no longer removable :X3:

Well, at least that's one job less. back to the bad old days, put a bit in, drive a bit, guess how much you've covered, and see how much (if any ) is left. :)

If their are any positives, he must have been a reasonable welder, as it's a ss disc, and a steel shaft.

Just remembered, the flap for headland spreading is on the width adjuster.
