Spread pattern - carried out by doing a tray test, adjusted with a flow adjuster on the ends of the spreader, this adjusts the flow of the fert onto the disc, nearer the center for wider spread, towards the outside to reduce the width.

Any advice on doing that when the disc in question had to be welded on and is no longer removable
Well, at least that's one job less. back to the bad old days, put a bit in, drive a bit, guess how much you've covered, and see how much (if any ) is left.
If their are any positives, he must have been a reasonable welder, as it's a ss disc, and a steel shaft.
