Recommend me a router please

Still struggling with a network problem, mainly based around Windows 10.

I can't isolate whether it is PC/laptop related (ipads/iphones etc work fine) or router (Linksys) related. I have two laptops and one PC that all seem to have hiccups maintaining a network connection - all are W10 based.

As a workaround I'm considering testing out a different router to see how that runs - whether it's the DHCP side of things causing issue I really don't know. Current system is based around a Genexis fibre modem/decoder that is then distributed by the Linksys Velop router.

Everyone on here always raves about how good Draytek routers are. Are they just as good when used purely for routing, taking the input from an external modem?

@Pheasant Surprise if you have a second I'd really value your input on this one please.

We've got a Billion router - three years in, it's still working and not burning ethernet ports out like our previous Netgear. Good wifi-range too. Synology, I've heard is good but toppish price wise, Draytek also come out well so why not try and see

Thanks. Trouble is I don't know where to start. Draytek seem to offer about 20 different versions.

I don't know one from another because I'm not totally sure what I'm looking for since I don't need a modem element.

Synology is a good suggestion too. As are Ubquiti but I'm unsure how reliable their Amplifi offering is.

Not an expert but just pondered it having a soak in the bath
so
You have some units connecting fine so not the router ?
The connection is between the router software & the network card software , neither W10 specific so maybe nothing to do with W10.
Are you connection by WiFi or cable ?
If Wifi get a Wifi analyser app on your phone & check the signal strength next to your PC / laptop
If weak signal get some kit to boost WiFi signal
If Wifi try a cable connection.direct from the router.
If already cable get a USB network connector ( £20 on Amazon ) to bypass your onboard network card.

Not sure if that helps but all cheaper than a new router.
If you decide on a new router @Pheasant Surprise was of the opinion that you got what you paid for in the router market

Thank you.

Yes, iPhones, iPad, W7 PC, Samsung tvs etc. all connect just fine. It's just two W10 laptops and my new W10 PC.

WiFi is where the struggle is. The router and PC are in in the same room - only approx 10' apart so signal is no problem at all.

That`s not the problem .with that reading
Did Wifi analyser show up any other wifi signals. ? Possible interference from something else. If there is a lot of activity try setting your router to a different channel
Next thing to try would be to get a UDB Wifi network adaptor. Less than £10
That would by pass your onboard network card to rule out it as the problem
After that i`m running out of suggestions - Maybe it is a router problem. Can you borrow one to see if it makes a difference ?
