Recommendations for a light weight 5+1 plough

As above please. Only want to plough six inches deep so power not an issue but lift requirement is. Ideally would be hydraulic vari width but this would probably make it too heavy so may be manual vari width would be a good compromise. It would either go behind a Fendt516 or a 64 Jd.

Don’t think such a thing exists.if a lightweight plough was put on a powerful tractor it would get pulled apart and then the manufacturer would get a bad reputation.most ploughs these days are on tractors with a hundred plus more horsepower than needed aswell.the days of 20/25hp a furrow are long gone.

Should have thought traction would be a problem if you went bigger again?
Kverneland did make a shallow plough that was actually claimed to work at 6", have you seen one of those in the flesh, don't know if they went to 6 furrow.
Presumably for such shallow work, furrow width must be 12"

I have a Kv ld85 6 furrow, no hydraulic vari width. Have used it on a 720 with no problems but needed a decent amount of weight on the front. Have used similar as a 5 furrow on an old shape 716 so maybe the same as a 516. Used to use a 6 semi mounted with a press on the 716.

The last 5 furrow mounted I had was hydraulic vari width, don’t have it on the 6 furrow and can’t say I miss it.

How did you get on with the 6 semi mounted?

They seem a bit marmite. I guess if you fields are half sensible they are not a big deal.

No problem, needed a slightly bigger headland. If a field had a lot of muck/slurry on it really needed to be dry. I always liked using it. Much safer turning on banks and easy on the road. It’s still here but not been used for a few years. Bought the mounted 6 furrow and we use that. Probably plough 80% less than when we were running 2 ploughs all the time.

The KV Ecomat (Lemken had the Glimmer IIRC).

Near neighbour had a KV, but not for long. He used to be on TFF, If I could remember his username I'd tag him
