Recommendations for fuel tank

As above.

Drying grain, combining and cultivating we’re not lasting a week on current capacity so either need to add another 5,000-10,000l tank or scrap what we’ve got and put in a 20,000l tank.

Plastic tanks are very cheap but not very secure in my experience. Current tanks are indoors. Any new tank would need to go outside.

Thanks

If I was in that position I would do what the local straw merchant is doing
Now and that is he gets his fuel supplier to call and fill up his storage tanks every other day

Hi Bignor Farmer.

What do you mean by secure? In terms of people stealing fuel or the durability of the tank?

Tuffa Tanks are fuel tank manufacturers for both plastic and steel tanks. You can call our sales support team on 01889 567700 - I can't guarantee they can resolve your problem but they are very well placed to help.

Thanks,
Andy

Thanks Andy, I will give your team a call.
By secure I mean stopping the do-as-you-likies from Helping themselves and leaving the rest running across the yard, down the drain and into the stream (I have experience of this- not a great phone call to the EA!)

Right, that's a lot of fuel that can leak into local water sources if you're stocking up to 20,000 litres. Well I certainly hope we can help.

Indoor tanks if at all possible, and hide them. If necessary put a wall around them, not only will this deter do as you likies (hot copper pipes don't pass through breezeblocks), but in the event of a spill it will act as a bund.

Alternatively, large metal tank on stilts. out of reach of do as you likies, except the giraffe variant. Again, build breeze block wall.

NFU Mutual told me last week that they are looking for all diesel tanks to be secure inside a building moving forward. To many cases of theft countrywide so it’ll be rolled out countrywide, so buy the cheap plastic and put it in a shed that you can lock.
