Reconditioning an L200 Engine

Depends on the age and how many miles she has under her belt. If they're relatively new or low mileage then I would get them bench tested and see how they perform.

If it was an older vehicle then I would be inclined to replace them while it's stripped to a pile of cogs and springs for the peace of mind, though why anyone would go to the trouble of reconditioning an old L200 engine is beyond me.

At 50k miles the injectors should still be fine.

What necessitated an engine rebuild at 50k miles?

The con man who is trying to extract extra money from me says two injectors failed which knackered engine. I know f all about engines but he’s already tried to pinch my engine after I bought a reconditioned engine fitted from him which is now my old engine cobbled.

Surely a recon engine is just that! Why should injectors be new?

Two of the quotes fitted new injectors as standard. I missed that in the detail
Reason I ask is because as I say I know f all about engines but as some fit them as standard I thought I’d ask the question on here.

All Recon engines are someone's old knackered engine repaired.
If yours has been reconditioned properly it will be potentially better the devil you know.

It’s just the fact I have it in writing exactly what the deal was and now he wants £400 more and I don’t have a spare engine to have reconditioned and sell.
Solicitor says not to pay which means he won’t release truck so have to pay solicitor and wait til either he realises he’s going to lose in court or we actualy get to court to beat him.
Pretty stupid to put it all in writing and then still try and con me but that’s life. Cheeky feck even threatening to charge me storage for my truck which he won’t release.
Funny thing is he’s MOT’d it and it should not have passed so he will also have Vosa on his back fairly soon.

I will never have another L200. Had 2 in a row but finished with them now.

First one at a few days old stopped holding oil pressure . Had to go back and ended up in bits and was never really right after that dropping into limp mode and terrible fuel economy , could fill road with smoke James bond style. Thought it must just be a bad one so traded in at under 4 years old .

Second one was faultless for about 40k miles then stopped circulating coolant one day. Dealer said it was a bit of a gamble to repair as sometimes only needed a head gasket and the head pressure tested , other times the head would crack and in worst case it was the block itself. Only way to find out was do gasket and head and bolt it to old block and hope for best.

Cut my losses and sold it as a non runner . Not even the dealer wanted it back even as a trade in for another new one as he said he had a workshop full of them in bits .
