The ones I see don’t look bad from the road, my own look ok on the brash, earlier drilled the better, SW looking great, SB some very good and some average (later drilled)
WW’s look very good, a lot of BG about this year
W Beans look very well indeed and podding up nicely. We’ll find out soon enough!!
Went to Oakridge lynch and back round to Cirencester after going to a sculpture park.
Some very tidy crops near Kemble .Spring barley looked a mixed bag I thought but might be
due to planting dates and dry weather conditions.

Very light brash up that way towards Oakridge, Kemble would be Ciren Park, plenty of digestate and heavier dirt that way.

FW will quote this as bumper harvest looming. The USDA who naturally follow the yellow peril will assume that is a European wide comment and base their next report on it.

It's not going to be bumper at all. Osr, winter beans look decent. Spring crops vary depending if they went in before the late march dollop of rain. Weather is very dry, which isn't a huge problem, but really cloudy. It's not exactly been sunny or warm this spring so far.

As a lad, 60 yrs or so ago, I worked for some time on a farm next door to the dynamic and influential 'SJ' (SJ Phillips) of Kemble.

He told me he found it difficult to replicate his excellent results on the low Cotswolds at Kemble, next to the mainline railway station, on off-land further north and 600ft higher up, at Aldsworth.

It’s probably right but not been any extremes. Hot or cold. No frosts in May at all I think but a nagging wind for most of it.

I think you are spot on. It's not the day temperature that has made it statistically a warm spring, it's the lack of frost at night that has pulled the average up.

15C today is the warmest it's been here for a week with a never ending wind, and this is mid June. 🤔
