Have 4 acres of red clover that we are thinking of leaving for seed and combining it when its ready . Thinking that we could add it to cover crop mixes and maybe add some to grass mixes .
Anyone done clover seed harvesting .

Not done it but don't see why it shouldn't work. Will do the soil good and save you some money. Not sure of the benefits of red clover in a short term cover crop as it's slow to establish. We are combining some rye next week we left for seed for cover crops.

Only space will be a solid concrete floor or could put it in a trailer with a spear .Storage this year is all going to be spoken for as have larger area of wheat to store . Where there is a will is a way .:)

Combined some a few years ago. Mowed it (no conditioner) 1st week sept - leafy to wilt 24 - 36hrs then combined it.

Had to hoover out the tank, then put in several seed bags and Evans and Pearce cleaned and dried it.

Probably most profitable crop in terms of seed cost saving.

Trying some Lucerne abs sainfoin this yr.

Think as mentioned, getting it out tank will be difficult. Did a lot in NZ when out their 88/89 and combined had a revolving agitator in tank to stop it bridging. However, just use a industrial Hoover as mentioned above.
