Dear Red Tractor Crops Member,
We are getting in touch to notify you of changes to the Combinable Crops Passports service.

What is changing?

Over the past few years, the Red Tractor Crops Certification Bodies have collected explicit storage data for all Crops scheme members.

This new data means the Combinable Crops Passports service can now being updated, so that the grain store from which grain is being collected can be specified when registering a new passport.

What to expect

From the end of the harvest season this year (1st November 2023), you will see a new "Grain Store" drop-down list on the first step of the Create a Passport page:

You will be required to select the appropriate option when creating a passport.

What options will be in the Grain Store list?

Based on the selected Membership and Collection Address, the new drop-down list will contain options for all of the associated Grain Stores, plus one option for "Collection direct from site / temporary store".

Changing the selected Membership or Collection Address will refresh the list of Grain Stores accordingly.

Each option will be prefixed to indicate whether it is presently suitable for the collection of grain:

  1. "CAN COLLECT" means that the option is suitable for the collection of grain at the present time of year.
  2. "CANNOT COLLECT" means that the option is not suitable for the collection of grain at the present time of year.

The types of grain storage are suitable for the collection of grain at different times of year:

  1. Long-term grain stores can be suitable for collection at any time of year.
  2. Short-term stores can only be suitable for collection during the Harvest season.
  3. Collection direct from site / temporary store can only be suitable for collection during the Harvest season.

The Harvest season normally runs from 1st July to 31st October each year.

What happens if the collection address or grain store is not an option?

The list of grain stores available is taken from the grain store data provided by your Certification Body. This same data is also displayed on the Red Tractor Crops Status Checker.

If there are any collection addresses or grain stores that are not available for selection, please contact your Certifier and ask them to update their records accordingly. Once these changes are recorded by the CB, they will then feed through to the Red Tractor database overnight and should be available on the checkers website the next day.

What Grain Store data will be shown in the Passport?

The Grain Store Name, Storage Type, and GPS Location (Latitude and Longitude) will be displayed on the Passport, based on the data held as provided by your certification body:

If you select collection direct from site, then the passport will display "Collection direct from site / temporary store only" under the Grain Store Name:

Exactly they can shove that up their arse, we have to do one for every tractor and trailer load off the combine to central store and that’s a pain making sure you have enough passports and stickers to get through the day. Let alone having to do an online in the middle of the bloody field.
