Red tractor assurance can * off

I get where you are coming from but they only needed to see an invoice (paid or not) for the fridge company. It is very pedantic all this RT lark I'll admit.

Temperature data logging is coming though and I can't understand why as a milk producer you are so anti. Surely it is in your own interest to get temp down as quick as you can and keep it there?

The vet has a logger on his fidge which updates to the Internet regularly. One night of the girls wanted to plug in her phone and didn't turn the fridge back on. Had to throw near 20k worth of vaccines etc away. Would you have wanted to buy any of those drugs considering how much they cost? -it was over the weekend btw so pretty well up to temp by the time it was found.

A tank is a different animal, it should be below 10C by the end of milking and will not go up between milking so as long as the milkers look at the temperature gauge when they put the pipe on and off its covered. I could see a benefit to an under capacity tank or robot situation.

Wait till you get a random visit from Red Tractor themselves, turn up unannounced(phone that evening then rock up at 6 in the morning anyway...)all very nice and smiley then all sorts of grief after the git had gone..Still without them where would we be,a crap milk price and struggling to carry on no doubt..

I offered receipts to red tractor inspection for tank, parlour and other dairy repairs and maintenance. I was told it needs to be a contract. Perhaps I'll revisit the issue, thanks to your comments. I think I was blowing off steam but looks like many here feel the same - we are all capable of running our own business so farm assurance should butt out and mind theirs.
Note @lazy farmer costs were less than 10k as you correctly guessed - must have felt like it tho! I'm working it out exactly and ilI post it up

It is perfectly correct that the Arla requirement for data logging milk cooling tanks only applied to NEW tanks being fitted after their Autumn 2015 directive. As the principal manufacturer of milk cooling tank monitoring systems, I can state categorically that over 90% of the ones fitted so far have gone onto existing milk tanks.
The benefits of fitting such devices are quite frankly a 'no brainer' judging by the fact that in these tough times our production of these devices is increasing. Data logging is the norm in most of the food industry and has been mandatory in the USA and Canada dairy industry for some time. That's going to be the case in the UK at some point.
The current hard times will come to an end, once our Government starts to realise that a healthy, vibrant diary industry is essential to the UK economy. That might occur when we decide to leave the EU.
Dairy equipment manufacturers and service organisations are 100% behind you dairy farmers. That's why we continue to innovate and develop new technology, without any government funding, to ensure that when things turn around, British milk and dairy products will be the number one brand, worldwide.

Well that worked well then if it didn't warn him it was over temp! What happens in a powercut situation when you have no internet??
Our system doesn't connect via the internet and the backup battery will carry on logging for several hours and even send the appropriate SMS warnings and emails. We really thought this one through when designing. :):)
