Red Tractor opens consultation on dairy standards

Written by John Swire

Stakeholders and dairy farmers are invited to participate in a consultation on proposed developments of Red Tractor standards.

The assurance scheme formally reviews its standards every three years but in some sectors is required to do so more regularly. This might be due to changing consumer expectations or developments in science or animal welfare best practice.

The current proposal will provide a strengthening of standards in some areas providing positive reassurance on some key issues.

Comments on the proposals can be made until noon on 1 July 2019.

Red Tractor will consider all responses before finalising the standards ready for implementation 1 October 2019.

The proposed amendments to Red Tractor standards can be found at https://tinyurl.com/y432z9ra with responses sent to https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PHMFKZN
