Red Water

Lost my first cow to red water yesterday - anyone have any experience?

Oh I know there is an injection (Imazol -or how ever it is spelled) - I didn't catch mine early enough though and she died.

ALways put pour on on any of my cattle going to off ground to keep ticks off them. Seems to work but not going to say those fatal words as I will only end up with an outbreak. The injection that cures it can also be used to prevent it at a different dose rate, you need to ask your vet. It is worth it for peace of mind if you get an outbreak and you have several going down with red water.

I was using pour on every 3 weeks and didn't for the last 6 weeks - between being too busy and stupidly thinking that the danger period was over I f**ked up.

Yes you can vaccinate but the withdrawal period is horrible
