Reduction in arable acreages

if that pans out then the case could be for mixed farms to not have anything to do with the sfi ifyswim.

its the stock farms that aren't able to grow their own that might get hit hard again, course the millers wont be phased as they can just import more raw material.
starw will be aa different matter though.

Just a thought
Straw shortages for the livestock industry
Less cereals for feed
Less acreages for the spraying contractors
Less agronomy and chemicals
Les’s fertiliser sales
And so on
Hearing big acreages of SFI
FOI request to DEFRA to find out just how many acres are actually signed up compared with the civil service propaganda which promotes a scheme that is not sustainable despite its title.

I’ve said this in a few years or before that even it could be a funny old job. There hasn’t been much consideration that different types of farming complement each other and rely on each other to some degree.
It seems very strange for the support payments to vastly favour one sector while persecuting another.

as most options are considerably more £ per ha than the old bps the budget will soon get used leading to capping or modulation i suspect .....mind you the other issue is money is being siphoned from hill/grass areas to lowland arable areas which seems grossly unfair.......gonna be a 'train crash' next year possibly 🤔

As a hill farmer there’s no way of recouping any quantity of the bps money unless we stop production
Bearing in mind we’ve previously been offered production efficiency grants this is crazy

About once a month I’m approached by someone wanting to plant trees on my land or build ponds
Blocking waterways and ditches is another one
Most of the water side of things offer no payment we are just told we will get points and we should do it
