Curious if anyone has ever redone the roof on a jcb loading shovel since they're terrible for fading in the sunlight. Just to freshen it up whether painting or wrapping would work
I had 2cx that had HDPE mudguards that had faded to a chalky white color I rubbed them down with wet and dry used wet washed them off and then buffed them with a buffing disc on the grinder followed by warming them with heat gun they came up pretty nice
Always thought these bits spoil a machine, and wondered why a company such as JCB doesn’t sort it out and look for something better, if I was them I wouldn’t be happy about it. Their paintwork used to be some of the best years ago, especially when you consider that a lot of site machines never ever see a shed after being built how long the paint lasted on those old 3c’s and and all the other gear they built. Caterpillar the same too, they knew how to finish a machine, whereas others didn’t clean the metal or use appropriatel primers etc.
I know these parts that fade are fibreglass or plastic nowadays but you’d still think they wouldn’t want to see it.
