How related can an animal be as a sire to the females? I'm looking at a new buck but there are relations a few generations back to their father. I'm not keeping them for breeding just for meat so will this be a problem?

Wouldn't worry about that. There's a thread about breeding showing a bull with the same grand-sire and grand-dam on both sides. Sire and dam full brother and sister
