Thanks that diagram will come in very handy! I’m not positive it could be a bad connection somewhere, I’ve just thot it was the relay cuz I’ve had to give it a tap now and again to get it to click in but recently no matter how many taps I try it won’t wotk so I’ve had to make the connection on the relay (where normally the coil pulls that hinged piece of metal over to make the connection on the contacts making the normal click sound) by inserting small piece of plastic. Thanks for the info chaps I’ll take another look to make sure there’s no loose connections anywhereAre you sure it is the relay? I don't know how skilled you are but I recently had a similar problem (MF 390) which turned out to be a bad connection elsewhere. I assumed it was the relay as it didn't click. I now know that the electronic ones don't click!
To confuse matters further, my relay had 7 pins, but two turned out to be locating pins with no other function, so effectively a 5 pin relay.
When I realised that, I did try a 5 pin relay of similar rating. Most functions worked (but not one) and nothing got destroyed. Finally, put back the old relay and repaired the poor connection and everything is now working.
There's a fair bit on the internet about testing relays if you Google. This diagram of a typical 5 pin relay might help:
Looking at my parts book here and the relay also appears on the page "auxiliary valve reed switch". Looks like there's a U shaped switch of some sort under the spool valve levers that is connected to that relay. Thanks boohoo If i can’t find any loose connections I’ll try dealer
