remote monitoring water usage

We've got a borehole at one end of farm and pipe work from it of about 2 miles. It generally works well until there is a leak, which only becomes apparent once the 15000 litre header tank on top of a hill empties and then it struggles to catchback up for 3-4 days after finding/fixing the leak.

I would like to be able to remotely monitor the water output from the borehole end of the pipe so that any increased usage can be spotted and sorted before it becomes an issue.

Was thinking there must be a way of linking a pulesed water meter to the internet (probably 4g) so I can monitor usage daily.

My googling skills have let me down and I am none the wiser as to how to do this but I was hoping that somebody here on TFF would know? I did find out that some of the water companies are issuing smart water meters to their customers but I need something similar that I can put on a borehole supply.

Once had a water meter with a pulse signal off it to run a liquid mineral drencher,it would need some circuitry to trip an alarm though.

It's also possible to monitor the power usage of the pump. If you can get a wifi signal there (through whatever means) then a 3ph/240v wifi switch (Tuya-type are easy) can monitor power usage, and then raise an alert if it goes over "X" kwh in a day.

But I like "Bury the Trash"'s approach - a water level indicator on the tank itself is ideal. e.g. if it goes below 90% full then you know there's a problem. It can probably alert you as well.

I have a text alert system set up telling me temp and if the pump turnsofffor too long. This is linked to a stop cock in the tank.

It’s not working perfectly yet but gives some certainity.

Also tells you about power cuts which is helpful
