Sold the machine to an enthusiast and old mate who can more easily deal with this problem. Not an easy decision as we have had it for years and it can be useful but hiring as and when we need one, which isn't very often, now looks like the most cost effective option. The space will be useful as well.

Farewell old 806.

Nah. Leave it be and cash it in. Plenty of other issues with it. Great lumbering duck arsed thing more suited to motorway construction 40 years ago than Ag ditching.

I don't want it to be the third thing I've thrown time and money at this year for it then to suffer another serious breakdown making me wish I'd got rid while it could still climb onto a low loader.

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done
