Repairs to 5ft bucket

I have been asked to repair 5ft bucket as there are a number of holes causing problems loading sloppy sh!t
I have decided to give it a few heavy clouts with sledgehammer to see how bad it is and if it is not too bad I will weld some off cuts to cover holes as it is urgent but if the holes get bigger when clouted it will mean cutting out bad and welding in new steel

Just cut out all the old steel, and replace with a single sheet, cutting and patching is a time consuming job and welding bits in to old steel is not good,
If it's the bottom that has holes in, then a new sheet in the full bottom will be better,
Same for the sides,

My guess is it will be buggered and need a full referb

A new cutting edge will cost you between £100- 180 a 8x4sheet of 4 mm will cost another £100 odd then wear strips underneath let's say a full bar of 150x10mm flat another £60 plus your time to do the job.
£350 in steel
At least half a day to do it.
You are very nearly at the cost of a new bucket.

i got a really solid cat 8ft bucket from york last sale for £150 (built like a brick sh!t house) put of jcb brackets for 35 from another sale jobs a good one, i would even bother welding it if its rotted through and the cost of a proper repair would be uneconomical

on the other hand i sold an old jcb 7ft bucket which was rotten on ebay for £200
