Replacement seat for Massey 8150

The Grammer air suspension seat in our 8150 is on its last legs. A direct replacement seems to to be in around £700. The tractor is pretty much used for drawing slurry, so not massive hours, but a fair bit of time on the road. So considering a cheaper alternative. Can anyone recommend a good mechanical seat? and is there much difference between modern mechanical and air suspension?

You'd be off your head to consider a cheaper seat in my opinion as you will only ever get the one back and any savings made by going cheap on your seat will only cover the first day or so of someone else's time to cover you and backs will normally take weeks , months or years off your working life .

You can get most parts on line.why not just refurbish the one you have.if not got the comfyiest seat you can you only live once you may aswell make life easier for a few quid extra .nothing beats a air seat.think of it this way when you buy new boots did you buy a cheap pair that nipped you're toes or spend a bit more on something comfy

I fitted a NEW Grammer Black Seat to my 6190 about 3yrs ago & it was just over £600 & worth every penny
i could find out the exact one & get the link to it, but its pretty much the same build as current Massey Seats are just diff colour trimmed & slightly less spec
still air tho & had most of the adjustments current ones have. it was so much more comfy than them KAB supplied Seats back in the day.

Soz just re read yours had a Grammer Seat in... well the newer ones are even better now
Think the local Ind Dealer i used got it from Bepco or Granit cant remember
Had the same armrests as current ones the lot

Cop on and either fix your own or replace it with a Grammer or KAB air seat. As others have said you only get one back. You won't be long giving 700 to a surgeon or Physio.............................................................................

Good point, especially as I've just binned a pair of cheap wellies because they've knackered my knees.

The seats to far gone to repair, bushings are gone and the holes are really badly ovaled

Thanks for all the replies. (y)

Would a lorry seat go in a tractor? Guess it wouldnt be as handy for looking behind. They look like a lot more spec for a lot less money, as usual ag stuff a lot more dear than a commerical alternative.

I have one of those grammer seats. Its brilliant. Also have a kab one in the other its useless
Honestly its a no brainer a comfy seat is priceless esp if you value your back nevermind the rest of ya body
Mind there no light to get in & out the cab, mechanic doing some work on the tractor swopped mine thankfully
