Reseeding Question

As I have done for a few years now, I sprayed off a grass field and direct drilled in a forage brassica mix. What I normally do once it's grazed off is, leave it a few weeks and spray glyphosate. Once that's had enough time to work I disc it, sow straight away and roll.
This year I am planning doing a stale seedbed. I am not sure should I spray, disc it and then leave it for 2 or 3 weeks and sow with the Opico OR work it without spraying it, leave it for a few weeks and then spray?
It's quite clean but there are some weeds, like daisy or similar and some grasses. I could get some photos tomorrow. Many thanks

You need to spray before doing any cutivations , then get your seed bed ready and leave it 3 weeks if you want , then decide ,if there is a fair bit of weed give it a light spray again
To be honest unless it's very weedy most brasicas outgrow weeds. Apart from Swedes that is

Ah sorry I wasn't clear, it's grass I am sowing now after the brassica. If I spray off and cultivate will leaving it 2 weeks be any benefit do you think? I have always sown straight away but thought maybe waiting 3 weeks would let the weeds come up and reduce the weed burden in the sward?

It will yes ,but not by a considerable about, as the seeder will just destirb more seed,
If your discing a lot of the fresh seed from last year weed seed will buried bellow germination depth anyway
Each to his own but the biggest threat to a spring reseed is the weather, personaly I would get it in as leaving the ground unsown you will be losing moisture from the surface layers
If I have a field that I know is weedy I leave the clover out , deal with the weeds then overseed clover the following year

Cultivate first and roll. Leave it 3 wks and spray off then blow or broadcast seed on and roll in. Did this last year after kale and worked well with no other spraying. Rain after sowing was a big help.

Have always had a weed burden when reseeding back to grass following brassicas. Last year I cultivated it, left it stale fot the weeds to grow, sprayed then planted later on when there was a bit more moisture about. Seems to have worked well but the ground is out of production for a while. Have also had to spray out weeds in a new ley then follow on behind and broadcast & roll clover in. That's worked too but gotta hit the weather right.

Brassica Crops are bad for spreading weeds ,not many sprays you can use and weeds get chance to mature before the crops eaten ,
I reseed here a lot with Italian Ryegrass now even Westerwolds, graze or spray the weeds out first year then overseed a permanent clover ley in the 2cd year

depends on what the brassica stubble is like, weedy or fairly clean ?

we are increasingly using d/d, and pushing the limits, to what we think is ok, and going beyond. So far it works.

but if the stubble is dirty, depending on how dirty, either spray before drilling, or leave out clover/herbs, and spray afterwards.

l do think dd results in fewer weed seeds being brought up, as they would be by conventional reseed.

The only exception to that is after brassica crops they can be a b**** for spreading weeds and leaving then on the surface

our biggest weed problem with brassicas is fat hen, we are experts in growing it ! If we mess up the spray, we can get huge patches of 6ft fat hen. OM reckoned it came in with the pig feed, its local name is bacon weed.

Last few years I have been discing 3 times and getting it sown with an opico harrow. Makes a lovely tilth but I have had weed issues but generally the take has always been very good. Part of me thinks if its not broke don't fix it but would there be less weed burden?
