They are geared up so as there is a slight amount of reel slip but wire stays tightThere might be more to it than meets the eye?
For example, what keeps the wire tight regardless of slip between the driving wheel and the quad wheel?
Not quite the same but I made a bracket for the polaris for using with geared reels. Only used it once but managed to put out 400m of fencing without getting off my seat. When I take fence down I will have to wind in each reel individually tho. I felt I wasn't going to use a rappa system enough to justify the price too either. The question i would like to ask is has anyone built one or anything like it as a workshop project? as i could do with something like it but baulk at the price of buying one.
Well I think you've had very poor service from rappa then, particularly as those machines are the best part of a grand!
Why would you unwind from a standing post?I haven't had a very helpful response from them in the past.
So to hijack, but if you unwind a wire from a standing post, how to you stop the reel from locking into the post, rather than free wheeling?
not strong enough , 12v golf buggy motor is better , will pull 400m in a straight line okA wiper motor (leave the gearbox on) from a car might do for the above application?
Could run it at 6Volts if to fast ........
Why would you unwind from a standing post?
Reels unwind from the bike.
Which is how I also do it if using geared reels.
I would put them on a shaft or something mounted on the bike. No, sorry I didn't explain fully, I haven't got a rappa machine, just the fencing set of reels and end posts.
Yes, I put a bit of pipe over the shaft to hold them of the lug. When i was in NZ we had the same type of system, but one side of the reel has notches and one was smooth, so you turned the reel around for unwinding. When I approached rappa about it they didn't seem interested.I would put them on a shaft or something mounted on the bike.
