Made it TOO clean - she decided cows to dirty, would have been easier to put right if it was the robot too dirty. Can I use your picture for our next inspection
Will they all go in on one farmJust been shown on facebook Parkham farms in North Devon has ordered 20 Lely A5's.
What fun training all those cows!!!
Don't know @happycows may knowWill they all go in on one farm
1000 high yielding milkers on the farm so I’d guess so.Don't know @happycows may know
Surely it's all proportionate though? If one robot costs £100 in electric, 2 costs £200 and 20 would cost £2000?Personally with that many cows I’d say that will be a costly mistake.
That’s some serious electric they’ll need.

Before anyone says anything I'm well aware it costs more than £100 to run a robot [emoji23]
I agree a rotary would be cheaper but would the potential yield increase not pay for the extra costs?Yes but that’s a massive increase in supply needed on the farm on top of what they already use.
Robots work best on smaller farms. Their running costs soon mount up and for large farms a rotary will always be a cheaper option
You a sales manI agree a rotary would be cheaper but would the potential yield increase not pay for the extra costs?
3x on a rotary, would there be that much yield lift in robots?I agree a rotary would be cheaper but would the potential yield increase not pay for the extra costs?

Highs could be doing 6-7x a day I know where I used to work lifted their production up to 12,000 litre average by moving to bots from 8500 on 2x daily. If they were on 3x per day i doubt it would have gone anywhere near as high as 12000 probably just shy of 10,000 imo3x on a rotary, would there be that much yield lift in robots?
Yet not a million miles away some robots were taken out and a rotary installed as being more suitable for a larger herd.I agree a rotary would be cheaper but would the potential yield increase not pay for the extra costs?
Max 5 milkings here, only 3 actually averaging that but 40% of the herd average between 4 and 5 milkings/day, generally higher yielders who are the cows that can express themselves on the robotsWill a robot allow a cow to be miked 7x day? Poor girl needs time to lie down and eat
No ones forcing her to do that! She chooses to, remember shes eating whilst shes milking as well. Work had a few doing 6 at peak lactation as an average, very few were allowed to do that amount though. Will a robot allow a cow to be miked 7x day? Poor girl needs time to lie down and eat
