Again that’s a comment for management… give jerseys to a bad farmer and it’s the same outcome.
The study above was done with farms at the top of their game in both breeds to give it a fair run and that’s the conclusion.
I’m not holstein in the brain 🧠either.
maybe depends how they are paid for the milk solids price or liquid ? im sure someone will correct me

downland robot red and blue here for 3 years with no issues just straight peracetic through the brushes just doesnt have the foaming agent in it.
Is peracetic a straight swap for Lelys brush cleaner? No adjustments to dosage etc? Think the stuff I’ve got says 5%. The saving is massive, just don’t want to get anything wrong & f’ things up.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I’m 5 months with a Fullwood and really struggling with mastitis no I’m housed. Heard Lely guys use straight peracitic but Fullwood Engineer told me not to be so daft. They set me on with a lactic acid based spray on the rollers (Progiene 7:1) but don’t think that’s going much against the bacteria.

f**k the progeine stuff off and use Kenopure 7:1 is fine and is really frothy so sticks to the brushes really well.

Lely chemical is just peracetic acid with a foaming agent

Ive tried it, cant say i noticed much any difference!

There is talk around here of people using teat dips on brushes with a lot of success, specifically evans supa max, at very low usage rates with great success

Don’t know what rate its putting it on but I’ve just done a straight swap for peracetic. But as said above the Lely stuff is basically peracetic acid.
Bought a few cans just to try. Gone from just over £60 for 22kg of Lely stuff to £35 for 25/26kg peracetic.

Bloody hell, don't use straight peracetic evil stuff.
Fitter was here on day, turned the water off to the robot, forgot to turn water back on when he left. Result brushes were getting neat acid.for about 4 hours till we realised what had happened.
Ended up with a substantial insurance claim against the company.

Should Lely really be pushing their stuff if things like that can happen?

I am sure there was a thread on here some years ago about a guy who had done similar by mixing up the barrels an scorched the living fudge out of all of his cows. Serious fudge up to make. I wouldn't fudge with making home-brew anything, not only are these chemicals hazardous to your health they are nasty to the cows if it's done right.
