What's the latest regarding lely collars? I hear they are based on the heatime collars and heatime are to stop making the older version which have to be passed under the reader to read. The newer ones are antenna based and lely users now will have buy new collars or so I'm told

You can still order the older ones although Lely may/will offer you a discount incentive to swop to the antenna version.
The thinking about this is that the antenna will pick up cows that are shy visitors to the box whereas the antenna will record activity every 2 hours or so.

As we have Jerseys, I can state with confidence that our cows get pick up from the box reader :) so we passed on the opportunity to "upgrade" although I suspect that will be forced on us in time through "progress"

The older collars will be discontinued completely in 2020, can't buy new ones now, only warranty replacements.
We have been going over 5 years now, and it's ridiculous the amount of collars that have failed in the last 18-24 months. We had 40 Heatime collars from the old parlour that I have been using, and I'm still down to 111 collars, as I refuse to buy any more of the old HR tags @ £90 each. End up drying off a cow when another collars fails, or one calves.
60% discount off the LD system until the end of March which makes them about £40 each. But you have to change the lot in one go, as the readers aren't compatible with the old collars.
Lely have also launched their "cow locator" system that uses Nedap collars and WiFi to locate the cow in the shed, and show you her position on a app. Wonder what the battery life will be like on them?

I agree with you AWJ26. I'm also using up some old heat time transponders I had lying around. Ive heard off the grant people them selves that soon there will be another round of the productivity grant which usually covers heat detection so my plan is to wait for that and buy the smartbow eartag system. I'm sick of almost getting my fingers broken in the head yokes trying to get collars off to replace transponders. Price has gone up now to around £1200/box of 10 for the rumination transponders [emoji44]

Did anyone get a grant for these rubbish heat monitors? Can't you get them involved with it being a waste of money?

So does the cow locator system also do activity/heat detection?

Yes you can buy the older collar. Have just done so and no mention was made of discontinuing that style by 2020 - which by my calculations is only 3 years away! If they do, Lely & SRC can send a team down and spend a week changing all our transponders.

SID are your yields on robots what you expected --- better ---or worse ---------what were your expectations -- jtt
Cows have settle in well. Diet has changed due to being round bales and conc rather than clamp, rounds and conc.
Lost a bit of milk but things have picked up again now.
I went in not expecting miracles so happy with the way its gone.

I'd imagine you have more chance getting the Queen to come and help!

hello out there. I am a little frustrated and wondering if anyone had the same issue as me. Technicians cant seem to find the problem. I have 3 heifers that when they go in robot 102 they get in there for half an hour with the automtatic robot stop alarm. The machine goes under them then goes to home but the exit door doesnt open, and the funny thing is they are perfectly still.!!! It does this for half an hour under the cow then home then under the cow then home. I have to push them them in to robot 101 and they get milked right away. If anyone has had this issue please let me know. I have 2 a4s. Thanks

Does 102 fail to id any other cows ? Have you tried changing one of the three collars for a new one ?

Is the tag reader seeing their ID
Yes it will read their id for about 30 seconds start brushing their teats while their eating their quietly eating their grain, and suddenly it seems possessed and their id disappears from the screen and it says automatic robot stop, but the exit gate wont open, only rear. Then suddenly it will read her again brush her teats and do the same thing... her id dissapppers from screen and she is stuck in that box till I get there..
102 does not fail any other cows, just those 3. So frustrating.. I changed the collars on one of the hefeirs for a new one and it did the same thing. I polished those readers like silverware too.

But I noted on 102 the arm seems to rock slightly back and forth while all cows are milking and standing perfectly still. Thanks for input guys
