Anybody know if these AFIKIM receivers for our fullwood pedometers are fixable? They are off our oopf's and 2 out of the 3 have stopped working. This one was replace a few months ago due to a chaffed wire but at £500 a piece was hoping they could be cracked into and repaired . The dairy engineer says not but he would say that .

Hello People.

Sorry for my english I'm from Holland.
I have problems with my fullwood merlin milking robot. Some of our cows have mastitis and its always on the left side of the udder. Our dealership doesnt know what the problem is they have already removed the whole left side and replaced it, but the problem is still not solved.. Maybe you guys can help us?

Do you have any form of disinfection between cows like steam or paracetic acid , if not , maybe you just have a cow with infection on left side spreading it to others . We had a big problem with this in the first 6 months on a lely when it just flushed with cold water , we fitted steam disinfection and the problem just disappeared . It saved the day really because we were getting close to switching the robot off and returning to the very old parlour . Never looked back since other than when the steam disinfection breaks down at which point it is only a matter of time until the mastitis starts .
Water flush only they claim removes 95% of bacteria , the trouble is that if the remaining 5% are mastitis bugs you have a problem because they will not be killed until the next hot wash by which time you may have milked the entire herd !
What were once seen as environmental bugs are now more able to also spread contagiously through robots.

We are just about to start some investigative work to see whats caused our mastitis blip. Doesnt seem to be a certain quarter and not even many clinical cases just a dramatic rise across the herds SCC. Brushes and cluster flush first to get looked at.

Get vets to take swabs of the brushes. You might be surprised with what’s on them. I was! I had staphylococcus on mine so now I change them once a week and old ones get washed off and put in bucket of hypo. I’ve also changed which perasetic acid I use on brushes

I have disinfectant between each cow for 8 years and dispite having to buy chemical I think it’s really beneficial.
First things in order if most likely are pipe split on clamp valve, twisted liner, pulsator not working properly or split pulsator tube.
It is quite possible that a cow has spread it if you don’t disinfect cluster between cows.

They shouldn’t be that dear. Give me a week and I’ll have 4 spare.
I’ve had a couple fail over the years. I’ve got one here that works but has lost its range.
There is a sensitivity screw on the motherboard if you need to adjust range, which might be worth a try. Getting a pedometer that tests the signal is a huge help in diagnosing a problem.

As with all the items listed in above posts to check, also check post milking teat dip spray that it is covering properly.
If data shows individual quarter dead and milking times check for differences regularly. Helps to pin point pulsation,
split hose, liner etc problems.
Check all sanitation aspects, teat cleaning and cluster cleaning. Including stalls and housing. Getting cultures done to identify the bug will help in tracing its origins. Machine not causing it, just making it worse and spreading. Leave no stone un-turned. The place you miss will be the culprit. Maybe get an udder health specialist in. A fresh set of eyes.

We have cold wash on our fullwood merlin after every milking. We think its cross infection someone with fullwood that has the same experience? What is better the cold wash or steam wash?

Cold flush with peracetic acid on our lely a4s bacto around 15 scc 100. Av about 15 cases/100 cows/year we turned steamers off because of the cost to run and we never had any probs with the flush in the parlour.
