They absolutely can. For us running costs are now out weighing the cost of borrowing money and running v310s instead. Hopefully by April I will feel like we've made the right decision.
Is this mainly to do with Delavals policy to vastly inflate parts prices continuously on classics to attempt to force users into purchasing VMS 310’s rather than lazy reps getting off their fat arses and looking for new customers?

I can understand changing a 15/20 year old robots being a good idea but mine are not even 5 years until next month and have been approached multiple times from Delaval re upgrading recently.

Lely been in here 3 times since last May trying to get me to upgrade my 11 year old A4, demand for 2nd hand machines is very strong apparently. He'll need to sharpen his pencil a bit yet though.
Is it rude to ask how much they’d give for yours & how much is a new A5?

He was in a couple of weeks and A5 was 160k now he told me, so that ended the conversation. Was taking 70k to change last May but I haven't had a 'to change' price since. New one was about 145k at that time I think.

yeah service contract was going to be an abomination this time around so simply decided enough was enough.

I did think seriously about changing, ours unlikely to get me to retirement (another 20 odd years) so thought put in a new one now and that'd get me there. Family will need 10 years yet before the know if they want to farm or not.
Put up hen house instead and got myself a different millstone🤣

Mine will see me out, boy is 21 so he will have decided his path by 30 and take a view at that time

Environmental legislation and planning laws are the two biggest problems here. Glad we got the hen house up when we did, it and 60 cows should provide a viable farm business if one of the cubs decide to farm. If not, sell the cows when the robot is done, lift eggs for 2 hours every morning and go sit in a coffee shop the rest of the day.......🤔

Our classics are coming up 13year old and was told the v300 service contract price would be very similar and ours are more reliable.
My worry is the classics are not worth anything anymore, lely have a 2nd hand value.

Our service contract gone up to £3650 and our new one for v300s is £2600. 4 robots, trifender, chemicals and service. We also had the running cost of the hn500, that we won't anymore as the hn100 alot cheaper and service is built into robot contract.
Dealer bought classics of us 15k each.
Replacement cost including hn100 62k each robot.

The hn500/hn100 you speak of is that the herd navigator? Does the cost too change include vacuum motors. We’ve been quoted around the 60k mark too but that was leaving the existing vacuum motors in place.

Yeah the herd navigator. Robots only, milk line, air compressor, vacuum pump all staying the same.

Daft question but what’s trifender?
Classics that have come out round us are in the scrap yard, you’ve done well to get 15k.
