Finally, some news which could genuinely help farmers and also help Lock up emissions.

This does not mean that the problem of energy consumption and emissions should not be tackled at source.

Processing and getting ‘rock’ on farm is also destructive and creates emissions so it should be treated as a sticking plaster.

As is the case with all these stories, there was precious little in the article to actually go on. No mention of what types of rock for a start, just rock ffs. And presumably the pixies are grinding the rock down in the first place?

its basalt,
im not sure what if any the neutralizing value of it is. limestone releases co2 when it reacts with acid in the soil, so that isnt helpful on the climate change front.

Wow, so adding ground limestone to fields could reduce the acidity of soils improving crop production, no doubt farmers will be well excited about this fantastic discovery.
And this dust from the steelworks sounds exciting stuff too, wonder what they’ve been doing with it up to now.
What we really need are books like Slags of the World so we can choose the best slag for the matter at hand .

I think @Kevtherev had a few copies, but maybe that's untrue

This is Kev and Petes new venture, they have been working on it for months. Kev writes stories for the papers under an assumed name and Pete is busily gearing up for a whole new tranche of spreading.
In a couple of weeks there will be another article on how these new miracle holes can accomodate all the surplus CO2 and just geuss who, has a load at the back of his shed he never sold

I wondered who was behind the "Clean Coal" and "Carbon Capture and Storage" initiatives - I should have twigged!
