I had a door off pcheltd 6 years ago after a recommendation on here it was 12’ x 14’ and cost £455 + vat. I’m as pleased with it today as I was then. Not sure if they are in business still though.

was told galvanised better than plastic coated or painted. I have plastic coated roller garage doors 20 years now and still ok (only 7' high by 9' wide. also have shed doors 15' x 14' one galvanised one painted they were second hand over 30 years ago and galvanised one nearly ready for replacement, the painted only one from the same time was replaced several years ago just the slats of the door, roller and side runners still original. no wind hooks. The wider the door and more exposed site then wind hooks essential.

Do you put runners into concrete or just flush at top of concrete?

fitted after floor so bolted to stanchions either side and finish flush with floor, you could put into concrete.
Leave a small drop in floor at inside edge of door to go under door seal and outside, we used steel straight edge embedded in concrete with about inch step - helps to keep rain from blowing/running in

Agree with Simon, make sure it has wind locks. We had 2 roller shutters put in 10 years ish ago, one had wind locks from new and the supplying company said the narrower door didn’t need them as it wasn’t over a certain width. A Strong wind a few years ago blew the non wind locked door in and we had to replace most of the door sections so installed wind locks and problem solved. Even if they say it doesn’t need them, I’d have them anyway

On with getting quotes for a door now, need to close one 4.8m bay off so thinking ofgoing 3.8 wide and 3.8 high. Can't really go for a full width door as rafters and haunches of shed is in the way of the drive end gubbins and maintaining max height. Quotes up to now vary from £780 to £2600!!! Most quotes are same price for manual or electric!!!

I much prefer insulated. Almost silent operation.

The single skin galv one I have rattles a lot in the wind. Insulated are much more rigid.

Plastic coated looks nice too especially if a contrasting colour.
Green plastic coated here to match the cladding, the insulated doors are much better in a windy end of the yard
