Rolling grass seed

Yes. If you're feeling really good out there, roll it twice.
I usually put the duals on, and roll at 50% overlap so it's well firmed down and you don't end up with highs and lows.
With grass it's worth the time IMO as you generally get better and better strike the firmer it is.

@Kevtherev told me the old boys used to roll down the grass every day til it came through, and they wouldn't do it for "social distancing" .

@milkloss i think ground is plenty dry enough, the main reason for not wanting to use flat roller is that ground is in two seperate blocks away from the farm and cant get flat roller there or fill it up.

@Kiwi Pete was thinking about going over it twice. Not got the option of duals though.

An advisor from the Scottish College of Agriculture advised me many years ago bot to bother flat rolling my sandy soil as the roller just pushes a ridge of sand ahead of the roller. He advised using the tractor wheel and going round and round laying each track ahead of and beside the last. It sounds tedious but doesn't take as long as you would think and the grass comes up to match the tread of the tyre proving how effective it is. But I do now have a flat roller!
