Alright Derek, we always find Tudors in hereford cheapest for roofing slates. Spanish much better than Chinese or Brazil ones. They sit better. Keep badgering them for price though, they will move

We replaced our roof with Spanish blue greys from jewsons about 4 years ago , 86p each , haven't had one brake yet , but maybe more to do with the chap who put them on , we also used slate hooks and as were in a windy location , not one has moved yet absaloutley brilliant things in my mind
Do you no if there was any guarantee with them? It seems to be slates around the 90p to 100p have a 50yr guarantee, from 100p to 120p usually have 100yr guarantee. So either slate should see me out!

Our new farmhouse was built in 07 and covered in spanish slate, very pleased with the result.
Consistant in colour and no problems.
In terms of colour Spanish tend to be darker than Welsh, but avoid cheaper ones as they can be inconsistent and you can end up with a mottled roof !

What did you go for in the end @del_boy

I can get new welsh at about £11.5k
Top grade Spanish for £7.2k
Or reclaimed Welsh for £2.8k :scratchhead: I'm tempted by the reclaim, and if it's no good, save it for a stable block.

I got mine from "independent slate supplies" eventually. They came out with some samples of different grades and shades and we picked the one we liked. I think i paid 99p a slate eventually

Built a very large shop, just under supermarket size for Sunday opening, in N Wales, and they used Spanish slate. Welsh was too dear, and the planners were happy.

Cupa is a Spanish slate quarry. Generally the more expensive ones are better. You get what you pay for. Some of the cheaper ones have iron in the slate. I used a rope end cupa and am happy with it.

So they have rusted but tbh only i think 3 slates so not so bad
From memory about £1-10 a slate 12x24 from memory
