RPA Young Farmer Payment

Has anyone ever had the following problem:

I submitted 2017s young farmer certificate for 2019 application, that's all ok but I did not submit a letter stating nothing had changed within the business! < my error but I didn't know I had to, never have had to before.

Has anyone else done this? and convinced them to still pay out?

young farmer payment has been a complete waste of time and effort so far for me, I would have been better off just buying entitlements and standing alone.

attached is the guidance problem is I just read example 1, it doesn't mention "only if you send a letter stating nothing has changed!"
I think its very misleading, I know I could have read further down but you think that example sums your situation up so you do as it states!

its going to make a massive impact on my business, I took on 50 odd acres extra and the normal payment was basically worked into my rent so I hadn't budgeted for not getting it! RPA Young Farmer 2019.png

Yes I made the same mistake, I wrote to them on headed paper stating that nothing had changed. They accepted it and I was paid mid December if I remember correctly

Answer to both ...
Yes I have been in contact with RPA on the phone but I have asked for my complaints manager that I dealt with earlier in the year to phone back, she should within 5 working days so upto about Thursday

Thanks very much for that! It makes a massive difference to me as I applied for 50 odd acre of entitlements + payment + young farmers!!!
Without it I would be down considerable £££££

Has it been a rule every year that you need the letter?
I've never been asked for it before?
Anyhow I hope it all turns out in the end!! Ideally December but I will happily accept march! Or may like other years

Good, I sincerely hope you get the same bod..ette. It is a good start if you have already spoken even if they haven't a clue that was the case!

From past experience with these people, they WILL make telephone appointments if you ask, which makes it a lot less stressful for you. Just say that you are out on the farm and mad busy.

A friend of mine was 1 day late in a couple years back - complained, got nowhere, appealed and they got told they didn't comply to the rules sorry... Had the option to further appeal at their cost but didn't bother as it seemed very black and white

I did it for year 2 with the same form as year 1, decided it wasn't worth risking having it thrown out in following years so I've submitted a new form each year for the last 3 years
