Which will consume more electricity in the long run,a single phase motor or 3 phase motor ,doing the same workload?
Thinking of buying a new piece of kit and have been offered the single phase option, for slightly less than the 3 phase option, due to the item in question having minor 'cosmetic damage'.
We have 3phase on farm now,but have not utilised it yet.

Which will cost less in the long run?

If you have got 3 phase available then use it - There is unlikely to be any significant difference in running cost but 3 phase control gear is simpler, more reliable and generally less expensive.

What power level are you looking at ? Is this the compressor you mentioned in an earlier thread. ?

No ,replacing an alvan blanch mixer.
Used daily and wondering if there is a cost advantage to 3phase over single in the long run?
Think it is a 2.2kw motor
