Hi,

I have a lovely Ferguson 2 furrow plough... the manual says I should apply a rust preventative to the mouldboards after use. Does anyone know a good currently available product for this purpose?

Many thanks

We paint ours. If they are shiney it comes off easily the next time you plough.
Wouldnt be trying that here on my soil, would take you a season to get the paint off!!
I use a mixture of new gear oil/diesel between matches and if a lengthier period of inaction beckons then I use grease. Waxoil is good too but can take some getting off once it has set off. Never use used engine oil, it is actually acidic so not ideal.
I keep all mine inside under cover but if you are keeping yours outside then good old grease.

Ours do live outside. When painted on to shiney mouldboards the paint does't seem to take any getting off, compared with the paint on them when they are new.
It is about four years since ours was last used so the paint is a lasting solution.

You must have some nice abrasive sand up your way, soil down here sticks to bright shiney boards for a pastime without any paint!!
