Sage cloud 50

Before we get going I am not looking for advice on other accounting software.
So had Sage for over 10 years worked reasonably well no major issues. My father inputs most of the data and it works away.
However since MTD we have been having issues with the VAT aspect of things.
1.Software would not link with HMRC,sorted fairly quickly, but really?
2. All VAT reports prior to MTD are no longer visible, not sorted but accountant is not worried, have paper copies as back up.
3 And the best one yet. While doing May 2020 VAT submission it decides to send December 2010 report instead! 15k difference and no use whatsoever. When now pulling up what should be the May 2020 report it displays January 2011.

No maintained issues were spotted when self testing software.
Sage online were no help and said speak to telephone service for remote assistance to remedy.
Problem they want you to pay an additional subscription for telephone service even though you all ready subscribe for now non effective software. Ludicrous not supporting the product at all.

Anyone else have similar problems with Sage or other accounting packages.
If Sage advice on remedying the immediate software error and anything else to look at.

Switched from Sage to Xero last year. It's a challenge learning a new layout but it's worth the effort.
Sage were forcing me to switch to a subscription package for which they were asking about £60/month compared to Xero at about £20. Oddly getting Xero via my accountant made it even cheaper.

I’m using it but haven’t had any issues. I started fresh on it 2 years ago to tidy up all the historical mistakes I had on the desktop program, and so I’d be ready for mtd. Find it good, especially now I have bank feed, which only came available in the last couple of months.

@capfits did specifically say that “I am not looking for advice on other accounting software”, so presumably happy with Sage.;)

We also had issues getting sage to talk with hmrc initially but accountant sorted it in the end. Haven’t experienced your other issues. Been ok since

Sage works well here. Never had any problems. Pay £36inc VAT per month for two company version I think telephone support is included in that price but have never needed to contact them

This may not be relevant, but are you using Sage Drive? This is their system to connect the user with Cloud storage of data. Their sales force push it hard, without telling you that it requires a ultra reliable high speed internet connection. One of their tech team admitted it can give corrupted data and problems without adequate internet connection.

I think I did our first MTD return about a year ago, July 2019? This was a fiddle to set up but has been fine since.

It is probably worth looking at sageforum.co.uk This website is funded by Sage. but is helpful for quite a few problems, in my experience.

As you say, Sage are appalling in their customer support, far too much push with sales, but unhelpful to their exisiting customers.

@neilo as you may imagine my father is happy with putting in the data, the accountant uses the package and at this moment I have no wish to move if they produce stable software, However, when my father elects to stop inputting the data and the software is still performing poorly I will look elsewhere.

@former farmer I do not think we have sage drive, but I shall check that. Have used the forum in past, but really I am really annoyed that they will not support their product in professional manner.
I currently feel it is a bit like Sky only supply fuzzy pictures of BBC1 on their subscription package.
