Control box on my spreader, flashed all its lights and stopped working yesterday. It's still getting power to box and yellow/orange thing was very hot. Its connected in series with power in. Anyone know what it is? Googled numbers didn't come up with anything B R400 3132s.

Been spreading 75%dm chicken litter and it seems to leave a line down middle anyone got any simple modification ideas to get to spread evenly?

Try David king electronics for repair.
I’ll have a look round as I may still have a recon one sitting on the shelf.

You really need fixed deflectors. ( not mobile ones) and a complete hood to get a 12-16 to spread chicken muck evenly
Try fixed deflectors first it would improve it some what. Also a triangle fabricated and fixed in the middle by that lump sat on the try helps. Also check there are rubbers on the back of the try to stop the chains dragging going it over the front.

Good advice! DKE is the “go to place” for these items. May not be cheap but cheaper than a full replacement probably

Yes i was just thinking surely you need a hood on for even spread . Are all samsons like that with the beaters stuck right out the back or is just the angle of the picture

Was hoping to get the soldiering iron out and replace something to get the control box going again.

Think these beaters were an option. Biggest I've ever seen. The outer of the beaters is about to the tyre centres. They rotate the opposite way to most - I think. Looking at centre they rotate towards the door. Spreads nice and wide with FYM and the door fully open.

Would a 2 ft deep 'hood' be enough as I only ever open I the door about a ft when spreading chicken muck?
Did wonder about taking off the mobile deflectors but suspect it would miss the middle then.

Years since i did much chicken litter spreading but bed speed controls the amount going to the beaters not the door unless your spreading slurry. Using the door as limiter you will end up either bending it or start the bed chains slipping.

I have seen a few pillocks on spreaders in my time, those that overload and have beachball sized heaps everywhere for the ploughman to try and bury ,and those that either leave headlands bare or cover the hedge and fence with muck because they dont know to slow the bed and revs to give the field edges a covering.

This stuff flows quite well. I have tried with the door fully open but haven't got the power to go fast enough! Spread at about 10mph as is. Doesn't spread it any wider like wetter FYM.

Started spreading ourselves because of muppet contractor drivers not spreading it right. Just couldn't justify, or find, a disc machine at the time.

The spreading hood only covers the bottom 1/2 of the rotors,
They only made that model for 3/4 years. As you say great in
Fresh manure and muck full of debris. Takes about half the horsepower
To drive compared to normal rotors.

If your struggling for power turn the bed speed down and drive slower

This is the strange Samson model where the muck gets thrown out between the edge of the body and the beater rather than out the middle, it certainly looks like it to me? I've used a few Samson spreaders here and there and I reckon you will struggle to throw lighter material 'properly' with them, fine in heavier/wetter muck though.

Yes it is. Spreads FYM great, and wide, in longer fields sometimes end up spreading at 15-20mph when on a mission. Certainly a step up from the west with half rotor missing!

I have some wide spread hoods and all the side panels to enclose the back end and put it all onto the deck if your interested. £800
+ new fixed deck deflectors which will enhance your spread pattern, yours are worn and require centrifugal force to get going and I would not use them.

Got around to fixing deflectors, and did a spread test at normal door setting for me. Spread it 5m from centre but still a lot in middle. Opening door to half open seamed to improve spread pattern. (I've fixed the heap created behind right wheel).
