Farms looked tidy and generally reasonably affluent in manatoba, in contrast sk looking very run downIn what way though? Weather, scenery, soil type, politics?
They are. It's not like land sits around for sale for ages.If it was that good the neighbouring farms would be buying up any land for sale and expanding there own farms.
Remember Canada only has about a twentieth of the population of the UK, and it must be twenty times the size , so land isn't exactly scarceIf it was that good the neighbouring farms would be buying up any land for sale and expanding there own farms.
Everyone different.I know men have been there anywhere from 10 to 40 years winters don't bother them
what price was this land? The land may cost less per acre (cheap compared with ours) but if the earning capacity is much lower where is the benefit?
Having harvested half a tonne to the acre of barley following a -3 frost in mid august (in Manitoba and the barley was only at about GS59), which could then only be sold for £14 at tonne (yes fourteen!) I would suggest the land in Western Canada needs to have a much lower purchace price than ours!!!
canadian land has shot up in value, so has the dollar, so he cant be that far wrong.I know a bloke who went there 25 years ago and wants away but cant afford to come home, sick of the winters.
Common for barley to yield around 100 bushels an acre most places. If you're getting a quarter of that then something's up.what price was this land?
