Sawdust dispensers

Hi all,

looking to make life easier this winter, we buy sawdust in bales, thinking about buying a sawdust dispenser. Are the ag walk behind dispensers any good or should I be looking at a tractor mounted one? We currently do the beds twice a day with lime and sawdust, might look to just spreading like and sawdust once a day if it worked okay but otherwise just trying to save my back!

Kind Regards in advance

Woodchuck look good and solid but I don't know about cost or effectiveness.

Several people I know now have Bobman or ride on machines which make the job so easy it is almost a joke.

Your main saving can be had by buying the sawdust in bulk. It obviously needs to be stored dry though.

we have 2 ag maxi dispensers, one for lime one for sawdust, they are pretty reliable but we are only 5 mins from their head office so breakdowns aren't a problem, depends on how much you want to spend and how your system would adapt to a tractor mounted dispenser.

Your pleased with them I take it? Or would you change to a tractor mounted one if you could? What's to go wrong on the maxi? Our system would suit either

We have had maxis for along time the biggest issue is getting dust or lime in the conveyor and it then needs the bin taking off to give it a good clean. We also have a 175 ag on the merlo which is fine but creates an awful lot more dust than the maxi, we use a couple of bags of lime eod for 180 cubicles and dispense 8 or 9 bags a day everyday of sanderdust.I dont know anything about the woodchuck but I find it keeps the beds dryer by puuting the lime and sawdust on separately, I did see an irish push bedder at telford last year which I was impressed with but cant recall the name.with been on robots its handy to use the maxis

FlingK do a push along:

as well as various mounted options including one that dispenses sawdust & lime but the lime box cannot be installed in front of the sawdust dispenser so only suitable for tractor mounting rather than skid steer.
Stamford Agricultural Services are the NW/N Wales dealers I believe.

FWIW, we use a Bobman Pro that brushes, scrapes & limes then follow it with an AG spreading recycled chipboard. But then we are doing 400+ cubicles

I try and use the maxis most of the time but use the 175 after a heavey night. Like this morning:shy:

Tried a woodchuck and it was built well but found the spinning disc dispensers just chucked the stuff everywhere and was wasteful imo

Please do not use lime on farm. I have seen a case where a man who got lime in his eye whilst unloading the stuff. It required a corneal transplant and injuries of this sort of the number cause of them being required. Lime settles in all kinds of places like the folds of your clothing and hits you when you take overalls off etc. Its just not worth the risk.
