SCC

How did you sample them? A tiny discrepancy in the volumes collected per 1/4 would give you that. We know SCC varies throughout milking. That is why we collect the sample throughout the milking process. If a squirt from each 1/4 was good enough then milk recording would be cheaper.

sample pot plugged straight into sampler , it fills up afer 2-3 litres , i just took it off and on as required depending on her yeild

been looking through my cell counts for this month last year , i have nearly twice as many in the ''high'' group this year .
last year they came in the units went on and they were let out when finished , thats it

On my last recording date I had 14 cows between 100-200 scc and 15 over 200 scc, the rest were under 100 with the lowest having a scc of 9

I get £250 bonus a month for being under 150 scc, when I was wiping I never got this now I get it every month

I find it fascinating how it can vary so much on different farms, when we didn't pre wipe our scc was around 150-165 but we were just having more cases of mastitis than we would of liked, switched to pre spray and wipe and it's been under 100 since September

Have had sample results back on 7 cows. 1 clinical Strep uberis, 2 subclinical Strep uberis. 2 subclinical CNS and 1 no growth. What is this environmental or contagious or both? Do they need sensitivity done or will Tyan and Ubrolexin work on all?

Probably. Antibiotic sensitivity can be useful.

Mamyzin injection is back on the market and specifically targeted at Strep uberis.

Uberis can behave as both environmental and contagious.

Strep Uberis is environmental and CNS isn't either.

We currently have Strep Uberis in the herd. Treatment has been a course of tetra delta in the past. But our vets have advised one tube of tetra delta followed by a course of Norodine and then applying uddermint every milking to relieve the swelling of the udder. Probably best to consult your vets about a plan of action.
