Here I go again. Do I interpret this as can't buy heifers on 25th Sept and then sell breeding tups on 7th October?

Yes, we have a longer standstill period up here. Further back in time it was actually 21 days but that was reduced .

The Ministry vets up here were wanted a standstill of more than a week, and I assume that's why we still have it.

It took a huge amount of time and effort to get England's standstill reduced to what it is now. Every ministry office in the country had a group of farmers etc .
holding a demo on the same day and same time, Was all very friendly and civilized, but a massive show of strength. The smaller offices even provided some hospitality

I'm afraid so. Could you put the heifers in a shed where they can't get nose to nose contact with any other stock? If you can it could be worth applying for an authorisation for separation. http://www.gov.scot/Resource/Doc/278281/0092747.pdf

other wise it is try to buy the heifers 2 days earlier or sell the tups 2 days later
Thank you all. I will give the heifer sale a miss. @wee man thanks for the suggestion and link. We are in the process of converting a shed with the landlord for this very purpose but be next year before its ready.

OK my standstill period is over on 17th September. I would like to sell a number of breeding tups privately. Can these be sold and collected 1 at a time after the 17th Sept without putting me in standstill? I also want to sell tups at the 7th October Sale.
