anyone any more news on the rumor i heard last week that scott beef were closed after losing 2 contracts to supply Aldi and M&S, huge hole in the market if true

Don’t think there’s any truth in it. Mate works for them . Said it’s been a sh1tshow lately but they were due to end the Aldi contract later this year anyway

Scotbeef has refused to be drawn on media reports suggesting the UK meat processor plans to lay off some staff at one of its plants.

Possibly, you never know with ABP.

It is strange though as there still busy buying sheep.had 2 buyers in UA the other week.

When I’ve been in Carlisle on a Monday always have a look in on the cull cows. When the worst of the worst b&w come into the ring it would always be knocked down to Scotbeef. Always surprised me that they didn’t have an agent buying them sorts

The band w cows go to lidl for the <5% fat mince. Strip the whole carcase and mince it. Apparently the most profitable processing contract they have

I had heard that the reason for losing the Aldi contract was a disgruntled ex employee telling tales - probably bollox though.

Nothing this week but have every other one ,got hoggs for next again week ( the final clearance) but there is a lot less cattle being killed there at the moment so a lot less going . I did think reducing their payment time would help confidence but maybe not
