Sculptured Firepit Project

hello all,

aside from running my farm i have started making these sculptured firepits (i call them fireballs) in my workshop in my spare time. I am looking for people with busy farm shops who would like one as an interest point in there yards, i would then pay commision on any sales generated from them. each one is uniquely made and can incorperate any designs people want into them. if people want to visit my facebook they can see other work i have done. - its a very new project so any advice in starting off would be appreciatted!! i am still working on the website which should be live in a week or so.

That stag one is amazing!

I'd definitely be interested in buying one of those!

thanks guys for your kind comments. the stag one also has deer, moose, wolf, geese and a swan on you can see more pics http://www.facebook.com/#!/ukfireballs or if that dosnt work search for The Firepit Company on Facebook.

i do bespoke ones completely to order for around £999 plus delivery and stand and standard designs like the wilderness ball or horses for £750 plus delivery. they are 100% hand drawn and hand cut which is why they cost a little more, but each peice is unique, even the standard designs as i will make each one slightly differently.

the stag was the first complicated animal i cut - i was so nervous!!

they are made out of 6mm steel so will take decades to rust out, i have bought some balls in 4mm steel so i can make a smaller budget version, but to be honest i think that as they rust they will look even better, even more organic. the steel can be painted with a heat proof paint to prevent rust, but i think the rust is best! they dont get as hot as i expected. you can still touch the steel for a second when they have been lit for ages.

in reality, people will not light them that often, but they look fantastic unlit as a garden ornament, so i like to think they are multi purpose. the amount of people who stop to look at the one in my front garden is amazing. i had two ozzie girls stop on tues night and take pictures! the wife got jealous!

i buy the steel balls in halfs and then weld them together and cut them whole. i have a 20mm plasma cutter which glides through 6mm like a hot knife through butter!

i have attached a few not in daylight. they are still 'raw' and need a coat of rust still. i have put a pic of the africa ball on as well which is lit but is half daylight! only taken on my phone im afraid so quality is not great.

daniel - i am in haverhill if you want to come and have a look! i see your suffolk, not sure where!
