Hello - in my usual leaving it 'til the last minute dealings... I have use of a Bryce Baker round grain bin at the farm to put harvested crops in. The bin is constructed of corrugated iron sheets, sitting on a concrete floor. The effect of sunshine on the south west facing 'side' of the bin causing expansion / contraction means that the floor is never very well sealed to the walls, allowing some damp ingress.
It isn't that bad, but it does seem to be getting worse. I painted some flexible sealant stuff round the outside of the join two years back but it didn't solve the problem.
If I knew I was going to be here longer term, I think it would help to re-profile the concrete floor around the outside slightly to avoid water gathering on it, but as a short-term fix is there a recommended sealant or something I should use? Would painting the inside with whatever it is, as well as the outside, help or hinder? Obviously it would have to be something that is compatible with storing grain next to it.
I'll post a photo of the bin later on, I haven't got any pictures with me at the moment, but it's a fairly bog standard looking circular metal bin sitting on some concrete.
Many thanks,
NP.
