Afternoon, thinking towards next year on direct drilling a few of our fields mostly with Sorghum. Perhaps 10 Ha max. I know nothing about it, done research but so much information case of getting buried.
No local contractors or machinery hire.
Heavy clay soils that have suffered from compaction over the years. Round stones up to about 6" dia in spots, relatively dry. Looking to plant for a few cuts then as green manure.
I've been looking at a disc drill, 3 meters working width.
Any recommendations on manufactures to look out for on a very keen budget, up to 5k (MF130?). Is everything for that sort of price completely worn out? I like the design of the John Deere 730 + type series with a single cutting disc, allot less bearings and having just renovated our other drill simpler the better but the prices are... staggering.
I might be asking the world.
Cheers, James
