Secondhand quad

sadly my old faithful big red has died and l have been looking around for a replacement. I have four dealers within 12 miles of me and all I can find in my price bracket (up to £3000) is a 2010 Suzuki 500. It has power steering,2000 hrs and 11500 miles on the clock, the dealer told me who the previous owner was and l know it will have been looked after, my question is: Is £3000 about right as I don't know too much about quad prices. Tia .

Thank you, will have to do a bit more research then. This Suzuki dealer has quoted me £6500 for his 500 demo and £7200 for a new bike both of which would be full road legal which the £3000 bike isn't.

thats far to dear for that bike a road legal kit doesnt cost that much!

Giving it to good friend who does a lot for me, he has a matching bike that he will make one out of the two. As for the road kit it is £500. This is why i posed the question to you guys as I have not seen any other bikes yet.

The Big Red is worth the best part of 750 to 1k, especially if you get another one identical.
But, I'm sure he (your friend) knows the value of your gift ..............
Are those prices quoted to you for new, inclusive of VAT, maybe?

I would pay £2500 max for the suzuki watch out for broken/cracked chassis (usually just infront of the rear wheels) and rough sounding engine! If I was u I would try and get hold of a 450 Foreman, IMO one of the best bikes built and you should pick one up for less that 2k of your going down the S/H route....

May I ask what the big red died of? Mine, passed on to a neighbour for looking duties, rusted the carriers away and I need to carry constantly. It still had the original battery at 18.

Mine has no compression in the engine and won't start and the front diff needs looking at, needs a new cv joint and gator that's for starters, had it new in 1992 and it has been excellent but it's time to find another. I only use the quad for about 40 mins a day checking the sheep on a lowland farm near Stratford upon Avon.

His kids, more likely. I have no problems with the bike going to them, half of my bike is theirs anyway and we share kit and buy 50/50 together. My mind is made up it will be a "new to me quad"was just asking for opinions on the Suzuki.

I had one die same with absolutely no compression, it just stopped.
Still baffled to this day, and the engine is still under the bench.
