Security Measures

Having recently had a theft from the Farm we are looking to upgrade security measures. We have CCTV which has been reinstalled following a Farm fire, however we are looking at lighting to come on in addition to the camera's.
A friend suggested solar powered lights which would be an ideal solution not requiring an Electrian and being tamper proof!
We are also thinking of something that would trigger lights when a security beam is broken!
Any suggestions of manufacturer for either solar lights or other security devices would be fantastic.

Personally I wouldn't go solar lights. Not bright enough.

I'd go LED floods instead. You could even wire them in to a UPS or have some fire escape lights that come on if the power supply is cut as a backup. Walking round the farm at night you'll certainly be glad you installed them.

Do you have a farm gate you shut at night?

An alarm system is probably more important than cameras, cameras are good to review to see if anyone has been mooching about but no good at identifying who done it when they have hoods and ski masks on. Lights on pirs are good for deterring some would be thieves but if they make the lights come on a few times and no one arrives to check then they aren't much use on their own either. An alarm that contacts you via your phone as well as making a noise is more effective. A combination of all three is probably best.
My alarm is monitored by a company that can tell if the signal is being blocked and they have a list of numbers to call if the alarm is triggered, costs about £100 per year. If they call I can then check the cameras to ensure I'm not going to walk into a bunch of our traveling friends or it's a false alarm.
