Seed dressing applicator

Thinking about having a go at my own seed dressing.
Ive a cleaner here which does an excellent job, so just need to sort the dressing side of things.
I have a 3"auger here on a tripod with a small hopper on the end.
I can measure the auger output easy enough so as to know how much dressing to put on but im wonder if i spray the dressing through a hole on the top side of the auger just above where the hopper ends would it get mixed enough by the time it gets to the end of the 12 foot auger and into the bag?

Yes. Mine is about 4’ and seems to do a good enough job of mixing. The dressing is sprayed in at the bottom and augered to the top and away to the bagging spout.

propcorn applicator pipe was just a length of 10mm stainless with 2mm holes in with a stop end on.
Could recreate same in plastic now. Ours had a rubber pipe to slide along the stainless to block some holes and give adjustment.
Nice to see something actually dribbling in rather than watching for the pink stuff coming out of the top?

Great, sounds like this could work then.
I have a small pump and regulator that I should be able to use for this.
Can the dressing be mixed at say 50:50 with water so as the applications not so minute.
And any idea of cost of say Latitude, Beret gold etc?

Beret Gold was £220 per 20 litre can last time I bought some. The dose rate is 2 litres/t. We use it neat as I’m not keen on adding too much water to the seed.

Dont forget you're PA whatever, to keep the box tickers happy.

@Alwaysinit it would be interesting to know what you learn as I am wanting to do the same. I was wondering if I could incorporate it into the seed cleaner somewhere.

What type of cleaner have you?
If it's like mine and the clean grain exits the cleaner in a nice even thin layer the full width then its should be possible to mount a jet or jets just above and get great coverage?
Only thing is it might get your cleaner in a bit of a mess, but if you don't mind that......👍

Is Vibrance Duo available in drums for home dressing?

Yes, I have an old shell one and its exactly how it works, but its a very loose fitted 6" auger so it keeps rolling back.. it just dribbles a metered amount in via pump strokes, I often think I should make it a sprayer nozzle.

PS some chemicals are actually common fungicides sold at a fraction of the seed dressing price.
