SEED PRICES

Fitzroy £499 Per ton
DK Exsteel winter rape seed 1.5 mil Pack £252
Miscani Oat Seed £510 Per ton

I complain every year about what a rip off rape seed prices are. Ridiculous.

There is absolutely no need to package it up into little bags and call them ha packs apart from making a good mark up on it. Save your own, its lower risk, you haven't front loaded a lot of costs 12 months in advance

I’m still growing a variety that’s 13 years old. 1/2 t/hectare more than the new variety grow in the same field for seed. 😟
Not at 13 years yet but on year 7. Agronomist laughed when I told him but I have customers that buy seed from me and I’ve had no complaints. And yes they know how many years I’ve had it. Cleaned hard so I take the best strongest seed out. Extra fungicide and never headlands. Cooled off the combine and frozen on the first cold nights. My yields are well above area average although I am pushing every crop. It’s worked for me.

Looking at the average per ton for seed wheat in the uk and ffs you are really taking it hard. That would be double ours frim a commercial grower and your OSR is out right extortion. I pay 12$ a pound and have cut seed rates down to 3.5 lbs an acre because of cost. Find seeding it more accurately is a better investment than more seed.

How much of a problem is Csfb for you, saw plenty of crop damage last year in emerging crops in West Man. Growers seem not unduly concerned and relying on seed treatment and maybe a spray; which is where we were 7yrs ago.
My impression was that growers don't want to see what is unfolding.
